RoboFit Table Tennis Center South Bay Junior Open Tournament Dates 2009 This summer, RoboFit Table Tennis Center will host THREE unsanctioned table tennis tournaments for juniors. Anyone age 7 to 17 may enter, regardless of skill level. Kids who love ping pong and competition will enjoy participating in one, or all three, tournaments. Each tournament will span three days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is a total of eight events grouped by gender and age that kids may enter: Boys under 11, Girls under 11, Boys under 13, Girls under 13, Boys under 15, Girls under 15, Boys under 18, and Girls under 18. These tournaments are NOT USATT-sanctioned events. The tournaments will be held at RoboFit Table Tennis Center 1513 W. Sepulveda Blvd., Unit A, Torrance, CA 90501. Players may bring their own rackets or use rackets that are provided at the tournament. Players may sign up to play in one or all three tournaments. There is no limit to the number of events that a player may enter in a tournament. As long as a player is the right gender and below the age of the event age cap, he or she may sign up for more than one event. For example, an 11-year-old boy may enter the Boys under 13, Boys under 15 and Boys under 18 events. Friday will kick off each tournament with a Coaching Clinic from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. This is an intensive 2-1/2 hour training class where participants will learn proper strokes and footwork through drills and instruction. The clinic is a great warm-up for competition. On Saturday and Sunday, RoboFit Table Tennis Center will open at 8:00 AM. Players must register at the front desk at least 30 minutes before their first match. The competition events will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. Four events are scheduled for each day (see Event Schedule). In each event, players will be in round robin groups of four to six players. They will play 2 of 3 games to 11 points. The top two players in each group will continue to compete in single elimination matches in the advanced rounds. The semis and finals will be 3 of 5 games. During the tournaments, if players want advice, coaches will be on hand to analyze their game and offer tips for improvement. Awards will be given out at the end of each day when the final matches for each event have been played. Prizes will be given to the first, second and third place winners in each event and will be a combination of trophies or medals, cash and table tennis gifts (see Prize Description). All players who participate will receive t-shirts and lunch. Water and sports drinks will be available for all participants. We will be following the rules regulated by International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Participants will be expected to abide by the tournament policies and rules of conduct and sportsmanship as stated by the tournament organizers. The cost to enter each event is $10. There is a $5 non-refundable registration fee. Deadlines for entry are:
Check-in: Players must register at the front desk at least 30 minutes bofore their first match. Match time is default time. RoboFit Table Tennis Center will open at 8:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Refunds: A $10 processing fee will be deducted from the total entry fee to any participant who withdraws from the tournament prior to the Entry Deadline. No refunds after the entry deadline. Deadline for entries are Event Entry Restriction: Players with a USATT rating of 1500+ are only eligible to participate in the Boys Under 18 and Girls Under 18 events. Dress Code: Sneakers and athletic clothing must be worn. Events with an insufficient number of entries may be cancelled or combined at the discretion of the tournament committee. No prizes will be awarded for splits, dumps, default losses or no-shows. Play will be conducted under rules of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Participants will be expected to follow the rules of conduct and sportsmanship as stated by the tournament organizers. All decisions of the tournament staff are final. Back to top
